[Good evening Luceti. Are you all doing well? Lets hope you're getting some good rest and shut eye because it's usually a long day in the craziest village ever.

Tonight another New Feather will arrive. A rather late arrival, but she came to join all of you. Dropping from the sky at full speed and then disappearing in a flash. Give her a good welcome as she comes to visit you while you sleep. No, she's isn't the tooth fairy. Or the sandman. She's another thing entirely.

Very much. [And he goes back to his sifting] Books make sense. The information is always there, if you know where to look. Takes a while, but it always works out.

Books are pretty nice. [She stops for a moment.] Although I always found myself fond of films more. There are just some things a book can't project or record.

That's okay. I just don't like 'going by the book', as they say. You can a lot outside the boundaries of a book if you branch out.

[She goes back to shuffling through the ashes with that.]

Books are what I do. That, and Watching. I am the Watcher, of course. But I watch the books more than anything. Sad, really.

[As he's shuffling, a bit of red pokes through the ashes. Giles picks it up carefully - it's one of the bundles of feathers, blood red]

A Watcher of books. Wouldn't that make you a librarian?

[Her back is turned to him, so she doesn't notice the feathers. But she does notice the lack of shuffling noises on his part and crooks her head around her shoulder.]

Did you find something?

Was a librarian. This was my library. But it blew up, so I'm not anymore.

[Then he shakes his head and amends] I never really was to begin with, though. I was a Watcher who was pretending to be a librarian. There is a difference, although I can see where you'd miss it.

[He holds up the bunch of red feathers for Paprika to see]

[She glances at the feathers, not quite sure what all this means.]

Did any birds blow up with this library by accident?

No.

This is all to do with where I am now. With the wings. A-And the feathers, as well.

I don't know why they are. Neither does she, and she's usually the one to solve things.

She's cheated death twice. I don't know why she can't solve this problem.

[He frowns. Not at Paprika, more at life in general]

I don't have my books. It's annoying.

Get some new ones then. Books are just reprinted, mass produced words from another person's mind. I'm sure there's a store or library somewhere.

Not mine. [Sad sigh] They're old. They're powerful. They're mine.

Collector items then? I guess older books are harder to find in print.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

[The library flickers again, back to before the destruction. Giles is there with another woman. She's sitting at a computer, he's pacing around her, they're both incredibly agitated. But the scene fades quickly. Giles looks visibly shaken as it does so]

Bad.

[The flicker doesn't shock her, but seeing Giles get shaken up does worry her a little.]

Hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you, really! [She walks over and pats his arm a little] Don't you have to keep looking for that thing.

She l-liked computers.

[But he does go back to searching] I've s-stopped thinking about her. It's better that way.

["Words on a screen and words on paper." is what she wants to say. But she won't push something like this.]

I see. [She follows his lead and starts searching again.] She must have been a reliable person.

Very. Exceptionally so. Except for the one time, of course. The o-one night.

[Giles sighs and stops] It's not here.

[One night? Oh Giles, you are making her so curious. But it's better not to tread on that ground- she isn't suppose to be giving therapy.]

It isn't? How can you be so sure?

I'm not even supposed to be here. None of us are. We've moved on.

[...She sighs. No point beating around the bush if he got it figured out to some extent.]

[Giles blinks as lucidity assets itself, then he stares at Paprika for a long second before he yelps in fright and tries to scramble away]
