✯ Ninth Session ✯ [Voice]

Hey everyone, Paprika here. Word around the village is that we got new people coming in here again. Sorry to everyone who got roped into this crazy place - if you don't think it suits your needs that is. This place can be really insane sometimes, but remember: you aren't alone here. We all deal with the same scientists and helping each other out isn't a crime and you shouldn't feel bad reaching out for help either!

If anyone has anything they want to discuss, I'll be always available so long as I am around this place! I'm a trained and liscensed psychologist back home and things will always be kept private between us. I promise I'm not a big gossiper.

But, enough of that! I think a game would be fun to play. To break the ice and whatnot. So, lets play Two Truths and a Lie. You introduce yourself and then make three statements. One of them has to be a lie and the other two are truth things. The person needs to guess what is the lie and what are the truthes. You can tell a lot about someone from the things they say and the things they don't say, so it could be fun. I definitely encourage the new people to play along with me. Look I'll go first.

Lets see...

My name is Paprika.

I have saved the world from the brink of doom!
I have been in Luceti for over a year so far.
I once ate 10 hotdogs under five minutes.

Oh and you should tell me why you think the statement is a lie too, just for added fun!

...You never had funnel cake?

Actually, I'd never heard of it until now.

That is just so wrong. [A sigh.] Okay, well its deep-fried batter mix, with a ton of sugar on it. ...It taste better than it sounds, I swear.

In other words, it's something like a donut? I think that sounds rather delicious as it is.

A deep-fried donut, I guess. Not nearly as soft. It's definitely good and you should try it if you can!

So, what do you think is the lie?

The first one, because if these funnel cakes are truly as delicious as you claim, there's no need to lie about liking them.

Then you'd be right! My friend isn't here and I'm glad she isn't. [Atsuko has a life of being married and whatnot to take care of after all.]

So now it's your turn, Richard. Give me two truths and a lie.

My turn?

[He thinks for a moment, then puts up a filter to make this private. He's... aware of Paprika's abilities by now, but he's still not quite sure he wants to outright ask if she can help him, in part because he's not really sure he CAN be helped.]

My best friend is in fact here in Luceti.
I'm secretly a masked hero who steals from the rich and gives to the poor.
What you saw in that dream of mine... were my memories.

[Hm, filter huh? Well she's fine with that.]

Wow, what an arrange of choices. ...I'll pick out 2. That is from the story of Robin Hood after all.

Yes, that's one of my favorite tales from other worlds. For a thief, he had an admirable cause... it almost makes one wonder who was right and who was wrong in that story.

A fable like that is meant to inspire the lower class to rise up against the oppressors, who oppress them despite being in lower numbers. It's a very timeless tale. I guess relatable fables like that can be common throughout worlds.

Have you ever read any Shakespeare? I bet you would like his stories, if you liked Robin Hood.

It seems that many things are common throughout worlds, not just stories. But it's a shame that such uprising would ever be needed... rulers should work for the best for their people, not for themselves.

[But getting off that topic now...]

The only works of Shakespeare's that I've read so far are A Midsummer Night's Dream and Romeo and Juliet. I hear he has quite an impressive list of works, however.

[But he'd prefer to stay away from most of the tragedies because they hit a little too close to home for him.]

You would be surprised how many rulers are said to abuse their power. More stories about the liars than the honest for a reason. Seems to be a common trend.

Oh yes, he really does. Those are just two of his many works. Much like how the stories of corrupt officials are popular, he is most well known for his tragedies. I like the comedies too though. The Comedy of Errors is especially a good work of his! If you get time I recommend it.
