✯ Ninth Session ✯ [Voice]

Hey everyone, Paprika here. Word around the village is that we got new people coming in here again. Sorry to everyone who got roped into this crazy place - if you don't think it suits your needs that is. This place can be really insane sometimes, but remember: you aren't alone here. We all deal with the same scientists and helping each other out isn't a crime and you shouldn't feel bad reaching out for help either!

If anyone has anything they want to discuss, I'll be always available so long as I am around this place! I'm a trained and liscensed psychologist back home and things will always be kept private between us. I promise I'm not a big gossiper.

But, enough of that! I think a game would be fun to play. To break the ice and whatnot. So, lets play Two Truths and a Lie. You introduce yourself and then make three statements. One of them has to be a lie and the other two are truth things. The person needs to guess what is the lie and what are the truthes. You can tell a lot about someone from the things they say and the things they don't say, so it could be fun. I definitely encourage the new people to play along with me. Look I'll go first.

Lets see...

My name is Paprika.

I have saved the world from the brink of doom!
I have been in Luceti for over a year so far.
I once ate 10 hotdogs under five minutes.

Oh and you should tell me why you think the statement is a lie too, just for added fun!

Still, a person would assume that saving the world is pretty extreme, right? Since I don't think there are huge groups of people saving the world from certain doom each and every day in one single world, so it still seems extreme.

Well, thinking about something like this is all useless either way.

Yeah, but the meaning is watered down when it is exposed so much. Something like eating animals must have been an extreme thought once, but when everyone began doing it then that changed! When you hear of people saving the world all the time, it doesn't seem as amazing anymore.

[Not that Paprika thinks that herself - saving anything so large is a feat.]

I don't see why it's useless. Hey, you should try it too. C'mon, tell me two truths and a lie!

Two truths and a lie, huh.. [ She sighs, as if it's an incredibly bothersome thing to do. ]

'I jumped off a skyscraper.'
'I jumped off a three-story height.'
'I jumped off a ship.'

... This one's easy, since I already told you part of it before, didn't I.

[. . .]

You jumped off quite a lot of things.

I'm going to go with...boat? Three-stories isn't that terrible, but boat means you'd be stranded at ocean. Not a very smart move.

[though jumping off anything like that sounds risky.]

Maybe I'm just practising for the Olympics.

[ deadpan as ever, since that's obviously not it. ]

And.. yeah, boat was the lie. I haven't been on a boat too much either way, mostly when I was just a little kid and a few times recently.

That must be some heavy duty training then.

Why haven't you? Not fond of the ocean, or just never had the chance to get on again?
repudiate: (is never alone)

I just get provided with some good motivation each time, it's enough to keep me going with it.

[ pause. ] There's nothing in particular wrong with the ocean, it's more just the latter. I hadn't seen the ocean in a while inbetween my childhood and a while after I turned eighteen. Sort of wasn't allowed that.

Aw, I see. That seems almost sad, but I guess there was probably a good reason behind it, if it was such a long span of time. Do you ever want to see it?
repudiate: (stay with me; wait with me)

I guess I don't really care either way, whether I see the ocean or not. Most people make much too big of a deal out of the sight.

Is that so. ...You know, there is an ocean here in Luceti. You should go and visit it someday, Ange.
repudiate: (for me to leave)

Why? Even though I just said I don't particularly care about going to see the ocean?

[ voice ]

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Does there need to be a reason to see the ocean? Why not just see it to see it?
repudiate: (a tourist in the waking world)

[personal profile] repudiate 2011-11-17 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know, it just feels sort of aimless and useless to go see the ocean for no good reason.

[ voice ]

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-11-19 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
It isn't bad to be aimless every now and then. Goal orientation doesn't always need to be the priority.

What, do you go often to see the ocean for no reason at all then? Is that your idea of a hobby?

[ voice ]

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-11-22 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Not a hobby, but just something to do. Don't you ever just look up at the sky to see the clouds? You don't need a reason to do it.
repudiate: (and the sky will open)

[ voice ]

[personal profile] repudiate 2011-11-23 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't looking up at the sky and watching the clouds more something you don't really do consciously? It just happens if you get bored.
