✯ Alternate Universe Session 2.0 ✯ [Voice]

Dream Log (Recorded Morn. 4/24)
-Vivid colors. A lot of oranges, reds and yellows.
-Mundane creatures doing bizarre things. A lot of chaotic noise.
-A china doll on an emperor's chair.
-Blue butterflies.

Dream Log (Recorded Morn. 4/25)
-The same things repeat from the last night.
-A man (?) with two heads among the butterflies. Facial features unrecognizable.
-My name is being called by an older sounding voice. Very frantic tone.
-A woman in a white lab coat with black hair.
--I don't know her name but she feels familiar.

[Voice (Morning of the 25th)]

Everyone, first of all please remain calm over the dreams you've been having. The frequent rate of bizarre nightmares means they are very likely planted shifts put into the mainstream subconscious. There is no need to be alarmed. Dreams are just dreams and can't hurt you.

Second of all, I guess I should stop being a lazy bum. I run a small clinic around these parts. Most people would refer to me as a shrink, but I prefer the term 'psychologist'. Sleep and dream therapy are two of my specialties I like to say!

My business is a bit more obscure these days, but if anyone wants to talk about the strange things they've been seeing, I'll gladly be an ear for you to vent and get some professional advice. Free of charge. And if you don't want to talk with me, just go talk with someone. Or write what you have been dreaming of. It could help. I'll be open all day long for those that want to schedule short sessions with me.

Also don't avoid sleep over this. I mean it, that does nothing good to your body.

[ooc: tags may be a bit slow. also, if you want to action it up, here's a different post in the log thread forwarded to the 26th]

No, I understand. I wish I could help, but these dreams seem to show up even if you go to sleep for a little while. That's what weird about them though. Normally one can't recall their dreams in the slightest unless they enter a deep cycle. The fact that you can retell what happened vividly is what makes them so unnatural.

Then, does that mean you, too...?

[identity profile] interstellars.livejournal.com 2011-04-27 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
- Oh! I'm sorry, even if you did, that doesn't mean you'd want to talk about it.

No problem! I have a small office on the second floor of the apartment I live in. You know where it is, right? It's building two.

How real do they feel to you?

[She takes a few minutes to bump up his filter and nods.]

Go ahead. Do you want to talk in person or just like this?

It doesn't feel right charging people for something that isn't their fault, you know?

voice;

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-04-27 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
No, it's alright! My dreams are just jumbled up messes. I have to record them or else I don't think I could make heads or tails of them!

voice

[identity profile] stilldontgotit.livejournal.com 2011-04-27 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, no kidding. Besides, there's no way this is a coincidence. Seems like everybody's having similar dreams.

voice

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-04-27 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but these dreams are too distressing from what I can understand and that isn't good for anyone. But, understanding what we see in them to a point can hopefully infer why we are having such vivid and specific dreams.

In that case, I guess I could tell you a thing or two...

It's never really their fault, is it? But I get what you mean.

I just have one question. As long as it's in our subconscious... it'll stay there, right?

W-Well. They're... rather lengthy, though my memory is surprisingly unclear when it comes to them. Generally I have very good memory recall, but... [He sighs a little.] Perhaps a property of the Shift...

... At any rate. Allow me to... try to explain them...

... So far my dreams have been much of the same things, but with gradually-increasing amounts of detail. There's this... metallic city that features most prominently; it's enormous, easily several dozen times larger than Luceti Valley, and full of what looks like advanced technology... wiring and circuitry and tubing everywhere, but with organics like flowers and trees almost mixed in. It's... strangely beautiful, and I always get the strong feeling of... being there, or having been there, and needing to go back.

There was this particular building too, with an announcer that said "Welcome to the Randi Institute", and... a-and it was calling to me, and I felt like I was supposed to be in it... [Robert's voice hitches a little bit here. He's always wanted to feel like he belongs somewhere.]

... The... s-second part is... m-much stranger...

... I-I dreamed of myself in a place that was... well, it wasn't dark but it was dimmed, and full of other people, including my... f-former partner Benjamin - but he looked different, in many ways - and... a-and I was... injecting myself with needles, with some substance that made my perspective shift - I saw so many colours and heard so many sounds that didn't make sense - but it made me strangely happy except I wasn't, and I kept needing to go back and couldn't stop myself...

[There are no drugs in Luceti, so Robert is struggling to explain something that just doesn't happen.

He sobs slightly, because describing this is getting increasingly difficult.]

A-And... th-the last part...

I-it was like... Luceti Valley, but... violated because everybody was d-different...

I... I didn't know Rupert anymore... a-and... and I remember Donatello saying he did things that he never said or did, and he wasn't my b-brother... And... Vivi was my daughter...

...

I don't understand... [It's all so very terrifying...]

There w-were other things too, but... m-my memory isn't the greatest for these dreams.

Some of it is foggy like a normal dream, but there are some parts that pull on me, the way being tired pulls you to sleep.

[Thoughts and memories can be faked in a dream, but instincts will always be the most real to a creature.]

If you feel comfortable about doing it, go ahead. Do you want me to set up a filter?

[...] Your brain records everything you have ever seen or experienced in some way, but accessing it becomes difficult if not repeated over time. I can't say anything for sure with these shifts yet, but if they were put into our subconscious they should be capable of removing them. Question is when they will be removed.

[She listens intently to him as he speaks and waits for him to finish before chiming in her thoughts.]

It seems that you're dreaming in a linear fashion. That is, one dream described an A event and the next describes a B event and so on. However, you sound really upset by all of this. The last part where you mentioned the valley being 'violated' - are you talking about from your own perspective, or did everything just appear off to you in a complete manner.

Even when you are awake it feels real then? Like everything was meant to happen, or happened in a far off land.

L-Linear fashion... that would make s-sense. It seems... progressive, in some ways.

[Calm yourself, Robert.]

... It's upsetting mostly because it seems like all of this did happen, and yet it's impossible...

And, well, everything seemed wrong in the sense that nothing behaved like it should. I... related to people differently, from what I can remember beyond what I described... My relationships with people were different. Even the Valley looked different in some regards... I can't remember the f-farmland, for example.

It's... all very strange.

It sounds like a pretty good one... [he follows, in silence-- though perhaps understanding "subconscious" as something a little different that the definitions of psychoanalysts]

Only--- [pause] -- the shifts went to some lengths with the details, don't you think?

Anyway, the dreams I had were pretty rough. I'm still not sure what to think of them.

How fortunate for you.

[but then the antagonistic tone drops away a little as he checks himself. ...sorry, he hasn't gotten much rest lately.]

Though, I'm curious. ...Do you have an opinion why some others would be having nightmares instead?
