✯ Seventh Session ✯ [Voice]

[Through the weeks Paprika has been noticing more people coming through, signalling another cycle. It seems that most of the arrivals have already come and still no Atsuko. Well, that's probably for the best anyway. She can't say she would be happy to see the woman stuck here. For some reason she's been thinking about it. Probably because of the rain. The cold, dim demeanor reminded her of her creator. Kind of sad actually.

In the morning, she flips open the journal and begins. She has something she wants to address and given the rain, more people will probably be inside reading to see it.]

So, I see we got some new arrivals in the village. I'm sorry that you all got stuck here. ...Well, only half-sorry. If you actually want to be here, that's fine too. [A small smile.]

My name is Paprika and I'm a psychotherapist. For anyone who doesn't have 'people doctors' in their world, psychotherapists help people cope with certain issues they feel they can't resolve on their own. Like mental stress or the like. Specifically, my specialty is dream therapy. Psychotherapists are known for having interpersonal relationships, so it's like getting to know the person inside and out and not just talking to them for an hour a week.

I'll get to the point: if any of you have things you want to talk about, but don't feel like you have anyone who will listen or want to keep a matter private from others, I'm willing to lend an ear. Everything we speak about is confidential between us and I won't force it on you. I already learned to make unhackable filters on this system. Or, if you prefer, we can talk in person.

It's just an offer I'm willing to give to anyone who needs it. We have plenty of medical doctors, but sometimes the deepest wounds come from within the psyche. This goes for current residents too. Luceti can be a stressing environment and no one would blame you for getting stressed to a point where you need help, if you can acknowledge you need it. I'll be here all day to answer in.

[ooc: replies come when I wake up.]

It involves me going into your dream and analyzing it from within. Like I said, psychotherapists normally get very personal with their clients. Can't be more personal than going directly into someone's unconscious mind.

Through talking, right? Or is it some sort of magical technique?

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-21 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
It's not magical, as much as technological. My world doesn't have the element of magic existing in it, as far as I know, so we do everything through technology. The research group I work with developed a device that lets people go into other people's dreams.

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
And you've got something like that here?

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes.

[She moves from the camera for a moment and holds up a small white device (http://www.technovelgy.com/graphics/content07/DC-Mini.jpg).]

It's called a DC Mini. I use it to disconnect my subconscious and go around to people dreams.

[Though that's only half of it. Not that she'll be telling him that any time soon.]

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Somehow the DC Mini doesn't look all that friendly.

[He's a more than a little apprehensive about the idea of someone wandering around in his dreams, but curious nonetheless.]

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
Nonsense. Here, look! [She takes the machine and slowly slips it over her right ear, letting the small sensors sticking out around the outside attach around the helix of the ear.

...

A moment later her head slumps down, face not being shown by the camera.]

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2011-03-24 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
[After a moment, he responds.]

What kind of stuff do you find in other people's dreams?

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-24 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Can't tell you. I keep all things like that confidential. Part of my job.

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2011-03-26 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
But you've seen a lot, haven't you?

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-26 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
I have, but I can't talk about them. Part of my job is confidentiality.

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2011-03-26 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Er, sorry. What I mean is that it's not unusual for you to see really strange things, from the sound of it. What do you do in the dreams?

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
I couldn't tell you that. Every dream is different. Sometimes it's mundane and relaxing, like a location they visited and sometimes its chaotic and moving at a fast pace. As for what I do, I mainly observe. I only interfere in a dream to a large point if the dreamer allows me to. It's not really my place to disturb their subconscious to begin with.

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
So if someone figured they understood what their dreams meant, you wouldn't really need to go into them?

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. I helped one man in my world that was having reoccurring nightmares and he was fine afterward.

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well, everyone will have an occasional nightmare, but his reoccurring nightmares did go away after he realized why he was having them in the first place.

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Have you ever worked with someone who knew why they were having them but couldn't get rid of them anyhow?

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
That happens most times. Really, everyone normally knows why they have reoccurring nightmares. Its just locked away in deep away, in a place they don't want to go to.

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
And you can get there with that Mini thing?

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Correct! It's very advance technology.

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
That's very interesting. I'll, er, have to think on it.

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
I'll be waiting whenever I'm needed. Don't be a stranger.

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 12:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you.
