✯ First Session ✯ [Voice]

[As soon as the feed clicks on a woman can be seen, eating a bag of popcorn. She's been flipping around her journal for a while and feels her curiosity at it's peek. That and it's raining. Not a fun day at all.]

Hello everyone, I hope you're staying indoors and keeping warm. 'When it rains, it pours!' as the old saying goes. Don't want anyone catching a flu out there.

Hey, I'm curious: what kind of places does everyone come from? An island, a desolate desert, the ocean, the city- maybe you don't even have a place to call home. This 'different worlds' thing is really exciting! Like a merge of different cultures coming all together...against our wills. [It doesn't sound as good now that she thinks about it.]

...Oh, I hope I'm not prying though. Some people think I do that a lot, so don't be offended. I'm not going to store this information away for nefarious means. It's just a way to spend time waiting for the sun to come up. Exchanging stories that we might never hear in our 'world' sounds fun, don't you think?

[She's about to click off the feed, but then remembers something important.]

Wait! Almost forgot: thanks to everyone who helped me get settled into this place a couple weeks back. You know who you are.

Whoever sends us here must really like that location. I could imagine all the missing people reports now.

What kind of world is it?

Hypothetically, since it also supposedly takes us out of the scope of time to do it.

Mine's mostly ocean.

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I like my version better. [Not that she needs to worry about that.]

An ocean world. Does it have a nice beach?

[personal profile] justicereigns 2010-09-25 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
Suit yourself.

Beaches. There are quite a few islands scattered about.

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2010-09-25 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Are the islands habitable there? There are islands in my world too, but not a lot of them are habitable places to live.
justicereigns: (bar justice)

[personal profile] justicereigns 2010-09-25 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Most of them are. There are some that are just deserted, but for the most part they're quite inhabitable.

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
You seem to know a lot about the islands. Are you an explorer of some kind?

I'm a marine. I just know the standard things.

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2010-09-27 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
A marine? Those exist in my world too, as a branch of the military. I hope you don't overwork yourself.
justicereigns: (work of justice)

[personal profile] justicereigns 2010-09-27 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Right, we're the military for the World Government dealing with criminals that cross international lines. Mostly pirates.

Depends on what you define as overwork.

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2010-09-27 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
World Government? An interpol marine of some kind? [The last part is mostly to herself, since he probably doesn't know what interpol is. The pirate part also gets her attention.] Pirates you say? Like the kinds that plunder and steal riches?

Overwork is when you don't take a break and have a drink once in a while.
justicereigns: (bar justice)

[personal profile] justicereigns 2010-09-27 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Interpol?
Correct. And the smaller islands without their own autonomy other than a marine base usually just have their police work done by the marines.

I drink frequently so you needn't worry about that.

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2010-09-27 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
International Police. Exists in my world. I think it's sort of the same thing as your World Organization deal.

So are these pirates major threats? I can't imagine just stealing a few things warrants a marine force to come after them.
justicereigns: (carrying pirates)

[personal profile] justicereigns 2010-09-27 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Possibly.

They're a big problem. Individually they tend to be weak and pathetic, but a crew isn't much of a crew without each other, is it? Blackbeard alone ravaged Drum Kingdom, Banaro Island, countless others. And since the countries are generally stuck to one island, they can't possibly mount a defense to deal with them crossing all the international borders, so the marines have to.

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2010-09-29 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
So...are they all terrorists? I'm sure there are some good pirates out there!
justicereigns: (Smoker - Justice is grim)

[personal profile] justicereigns 2010-09-29 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
A good pirate is an oxymoron. Pirates don't become pirates without specific intention to break laws. If one pirate crew doesn't kidnap people and hold them hostage for money or completely ransack and burn an entire island, it doesn't make them good it just means they're quieter than others around them.

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2010-09-29 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
[...She can't really disagree with that. But, taking the chef she met into consideration, she cant accept it as being so black and white.]

Is there really no gray area in-between?
justicereigns: (Smoker - Hn)

[personal profile] justicereigns 2010-09-29 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
....

There... is... some. [He would seriously rather cut off his leg than admit this.]

But not often.

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2010-09-29 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Hearing that makes her feel a little relieved. She isn't sure if this person is from the same world as Sanji, but if they are then it makes her happy that at least the marine can admit this.]

Nothing is ever as it seems. Pretty annoying how it works that way.

I don't have a problem accepting that gray areas exist. The problem is that it's still gray.

Even if one pirate crew saves a nation where a supposedly good guy is destroying it; it doesn't mean they don't then run off and hurt someone else or declare war on the entire goddamn world government. They're still pirates and there aren't too many good reasons for becoming one in the first place.
