Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ Second Dream Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ Forwarded to late night

[Around the afternoon, Paprika was released from the experimental alternate universe and went back to being her cheery dream girl self. And, like most others, she thought she was spared from the continued experiments.

Oh how wrong she was.

Like on the first night she arrived in Luceti, Paprika is going to be dropping into people's dreams through teleportation. Prepare to get your dreamspace invaded citizens of Luceti. Please don't kill her for this - she really doesn't want to imagine the crazy stuff you dream of.]

[The village is dark, the moon and stars hidden behind thick, black clouds even this late at night. But the snow still manages to sparkle on the ground and in the trees.

Paprika will find herself in the plaza. There are dead bodies scattered around, laying like they were tossed carelessly aside. Paprika might recognize a few of them, but the exact identities and causes of death change if she looks away and looks back again. The only thing that remains the same is the expression on their faces - each one a frozen mask of terror and pain. The snow still sparkles, but in places it's dark with blood.

Giles is pacing around the carnage, hugging his shoulders and covered in blood, apparently looking for something and agitated that he's not finding it. He searches the shadows, the trees, the water in the fountain, and he growls when his search proves fruitless]

[Luckily for Frederic, he's not a rabbit in his dreams. When Paprika enters his dreams, she'll see that he's practicing his magic along with some sword training in the battle dome. After awhile, he'll sit down with a deep sigh to take a break from all his training.]

[It's snowing, falling thick and fast and obscuring the plaza from view. (No, not quite the plaza, actually - further to one side, in the direction of Azzip.) There are footprints in it - bare feet, wandering in a meandering line towards some unknown destination.]

[Following those footprints will bring you to Link - dressed in his new feather pants, Master Sword slack in his left hand. He's watching a battle - Paprika may recognise Yuber and Nu, targetting and attacking and destroying Link's friends one by one.]

[Saria - half-buried in a snow bank, one hand wrapped around a pale brown ocarina.]

[Malon - red hair splayed out, blending in with the blood that stains the snow around her.]

[Darunia - fragments of rock scattered around in lieu of blood.]

[Zelda - curled in on herself, pink dress stained red.]

[The friends he's made here, faces Paprika may recognise - Tsuzuki and Hijiri, Duo and Hisoka, Foot and Salt and Rydia and Selphie and Ash and Rise and Vash and Giles and Usagi and Colette...]

[And Sheik, the target of Yuber and Nu's wrath. Link can only watch, horror and grief and guilt on his face, tears frozen on his cheeks as they brutalise him - and still, he doesn't move.]

[Sheik dies already died, and he does did nothing. Frozen in place, he watches.]

[It's summer--there's the low buzz of cicadas in the background, but the place itself? Is rather hard to discern.

Mostly, it's a blend of colour, the images in the dream waving like heat coming off pavement. There are sounds and smells of summer--okonomiyaki, the calls of vendors, sounds of traffic. Against a smudge of grey that may be a building Naoki is leaning, watching something only he can see, his eyes flickering back and forth.

Further away down the splash of grey that's the street? The colours solidify and trail into sandy browns and the wavering dreamscape trails into sharp wasteland that stretches far, far away, the sky changing into black, looking almost like its made up of buildings.

He's not moving from his spot, though, ignoring that other landscape even as it begins to creep closer.]

[For a moment she thinks she just teleported into the village plaza and something had gone horribly wrong. Yet something about this scene appears far too artificial for her to completely buy into it. The carnage startles her a little, but once she realizes its someone's dream she shrugs it off.

That's when she sees Giles out in the snow and frowns, remembering the things she said to him the last time they talked. God this was going to be hard, because she knows that this must be a dream now. Regardless, she walks past the carnage and toward him, ignoring the blood over him.]

[She doesn't recognize the two attackers nor Link, but the some of the victims are friends of Paprika's as well and she recognizes them.

But, she also knows this is a dream. So even if she sees the two attackers killing she does not react to them and approaches Link in the snow. Her feet make crunching noises on the snow, but leave no footprints behind. She isn't apart of this dream after all. Once she gets close enough she puts a steady hand on his shoulder, trying to snap him out.]

Why is this happening?

[The feeling of summer makes Paprika fairly happy. Warm weather always appealed to her the most and the strange city-like landscape made her reminiscent of home. She quickly moves to the thing that stands out most in the dream - Naoki himself. It's easy to tell for her what is reality and what is part of the dream, so recognizing him as the person dreaming was easy.

As she walks towards him she changes her form into that of a fairy and quietly observes him and the changing landscape. It didn't surprise her, as shifting landscape in dreams was the norm most of the time, but what did make her curious was how he didn't react to it. Not that most people do in dreams, because it's just so normal at the time.]

[As Luke sleeps, he dreams of himself in an unfamiliar town, just one that his mind hastily put together that constantly shifts and changes. Paprika will find herself in the middle of the town square where Luke stands not too far away, and he sticks out like a sore thumb thanks to his white shirt and the rest of the people in his dream.

They're all covered in mud, but not just any mud. It's a sickly purple color, and it covers them so much that only some patches of their skin are seen. What's seen may be even worse, though; Their flesh is pale, a deathly sort of white, and their eyes are glassy and gray. It looks as if they're the living dead themselves; some even have a limb or two missing.

Yet they go about their daily lives as if this isn't an abnormality at all. They stop and occasionally talk to each other, chatting away happily about something that can't be heard. Some of them have mining equipment slung over their shoulders, as if they're just visiting some of their friends before they head off to work. There are even some children running around; some playing jump rope, others playing tag, all of them laughing in unheard joy.

Despite the happy atmosphere, if any of the people get close to Luke, they stop whatever they're doing and give him an empty stare, one without the joy or laughter that was seen earlier. After a moment, they slowly pass him by and continue with their daily activities, but their actions don't go unnoticed by Luke. Each and every time this happens, he cringes and turns his head in an attempt to break the eye contact, yet his dream won't let him shut his eyes or look away. Even the atmosphere changes when they stare at him; the skies grow dark into a cloudy purple color, the buildings turn black, and the roads turn red... But once the dead people break the gaze, everything seems to turn normal again.

Luke can only hold his arms and stay frozen in place.]

Not as much time as you think.

What happened here? Did you need to blow up another library?

No.

This...didn't happen. Might have happened. [He shudders a bit.] Should have happened. [Still resolutely not looking at Paprika, he glances off to the side, apparently zeroing in on the body of an adolescent girl. Her throat has been torn out.] Almost happened.

[The wasteland keeps spreading and creeping, eating up the strange cityscape, indistinct colours fading into loose sand and earth--there are highways in the distance and the remains of buildings. Slowly, forms begin to rise up, strange (http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/3387/684pxzhen.jpg) and varied (http://www.popanime.net/megami/wiki/images/4/40/Cu_chulainn.JPG) creatures, prowling ever closer to where Naoki is. Watching him.

It's only when some of the shifting pavement under his feet begins to change that he stirs, looks irritably toward the wasteland and demons.]

[As Luke watches the disorderly people he should be able to pick out Paprika right away. She isn't sickly pale nor are there purple splotches of mud covering her body and her eyes are completely focused on him. In such a dreary dream Luke sticks out like a sore thumb with his normal appearance. Well, normal to Paprika at least. The people who walk by him don't seem to like him very much from what she observes.

She walks toward him, but doesn't say anything as she comes closer. Likewise, she does not acknowledge the existence of the citizens. If he makes eye contact with her he should be able to see right away that she isn't apart of this place. Especially because her filial wings are sticking out, reflecting the scenery behind her as she passes by like a window.]

[identity profile] byakkoyagirl.livejournal.com 2010-12-02 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Of course it happened. On some level it did because it's in this place. People don't just dream of corpses unless there's a good reason. And you're not a fan of the horror genre.

[She looks around again, still unfazed by what she's seeing.]

You don't have anywhere to go, but you don't have any time either.

[As with her previous dream, Brooke's appears to be taking place in or near a forest, near the end of summer and with her friends once again in tow.

The cloaked girl—Sara—and the older boy—Jason—are still bickering with one another, same as before, while the remaining three members of the group glance to one another, inwardly asking when the needling will come to an end.

"Zain, can you tell your girlfriend here to quit hitting me already?" Jason asks, immediately getting an indignant squawk and another smack to the back of the head from Sara.

"Why can't you ask her yourself?" the younger boy responds boredly, not bothering to hide his irritation at the way both of them are behaving.

"We are nearly to Zyndar," the oldest girl interrupts before Jason can retort. "It would be best for the both of you to cease this childish display before we speak to Nalis, rather than during or after."

"But she sta—" Jason begins to protest, before again being interrupted, this time by his own sister.]

Jason, cut it out. If you quit giving Sara a reason to bother you, she'll leave you alone. I mean seriously, what's the problem between you two, anyway?

(ooc: I forget if I stated this last time, but interaction with Brooke's friends instead of Brooke herself is perfectly okay. As an additional heads-up, some of the tags here might come from [livejournal.com profile] sunderedwings—an account I made for Sara.)

That's wrong. This isn't happening because of you. It's happening because of them. ['Them' being of course the two people mercilessly killing everyone. Even if she doesn't recognized them and even if she acknowledges them only as apart of his dream, the very action of them slaughtering people disgusts her. But she doesn't turn away either, for his sake.] You aren't the one killing all of these people, so this isn't happening because of you.

But I'm supposed to be a Hero...

[The scene changes again - this time, the clarity and clearness of it shows that it's memory, not a dream. Early morning, a light dusting of snow on the ground, trampled underfoot and splattered with blood. While Link is removed from the scene, Sheik is still sprawled in the snow, sliced open by Nu's attack - Link drops to his knees beside him and reaches for his pale hand.]

[The appearance of the new creatures startles her, but she makes no sound as her mouth opens up in surprise. It isn't the creatures themselves that shock her, but because she could have sworn she saw similar creatures from a past dream of Kouki's. Not exactly the same, but they send chills up her spine just as the other ones did.

She flies back and away from the scene, but not too far that she can't observe what's happening.]

[Paprika also sticks out among the rest of the people in his dream, so once Luke notices her, he tears his gaze away from them and stares at her. She isn't a part of this, but... how could that be? Is he dreaming of her? Did she survive Akzeriuth, maybe...? Maybe his dreams are trying to give him some hope, for once?

But no... she has wings. Filial wings, so she's a villager. Luke narrows his eyes and tilts his head a bit with confusion, trying to keep his focus on her even as the pale bodies walk between them in an effort to get his attention back on them again.]

... Who are you?
